Gramya Van is one of NetZero Planet Foundation's completed rural greening initiatives, successfully transforming 6 acres of land into a thriving village forest ecosystem through the plantation of 2,000 native trees. The project was designed to restore natural ecosystems, strengthen climate resilience, enhance biodiversity, and promote sustainable rural development while creating a long-term green asset for future generations.

Native Tree Species

The project includes a diverse mix of native and climate-resilient species such as Neem, Karanj, Guava, Jackfruit, Jamun, Badam, Kadam, Mango, and other native trees that support biodiversity, environmental sustainability, and ecological restoration.

Environmental & Social Impact

Gramya Van is generating lasting environmental benefits by improving air quality, reducing local temperatures, preventing soil erosion, supporting groundwater recharge, enhancing biodiversity, and strengthening climate resilience. The plantation contributes to healthier village ecosystems while supporting climate action and the vision of Net Zero India by 2070.

Sustainable Plantation Approach

The project was implemented using scientific plantation practices, including land preparation, soil enrichment through compost application, mulching for moisture retention, installation of tree guards for protection, and regular watering and maintenance. The focus remains on ensuring long-term survival and healthy growth of every planted tree.

Community Participation

The initiative was implemented with active support from local communities, volunteers, and stakeholders, fostering environmental awareness, community ownership, and collective responsibility for protecting and nurturing green spaces.

Current Status

The plantation phase has been successfully completed. Regular maintenance, monitoring, watering, and survival management activities are currently underway to ensure the healthy growth and long-term sustainability of the forest.
