Tree Plantation and Survival Policy

Tree Plantation & Survival Policy

Effective Date: 13th April, 2025

At NetZero-Planet.com, the plantation platform of NetZero Planet Foundation, our objective is not merely to plant trees, but to establish healthy, thriving, and sustainable green ecosystems that create long-term environmental, social, and climate benefits.
This Tree Plantation & Survival Policy outlines our approach to plantation, maintenance, monitoring, and survival management of trees supported through our projects, sponsorship programs, donations, and environmental initiatives.

1. Our Plantation Philosophy

We believe that the true success of a plantation project is measured not by the number of saplings planted, but by the number of trees that survive, grow, and contribute to the environment for generations.
Therefore, our focus is on:

  • Right species selection
  • Right site selection
  • Scientific plantation methods
  • Community participation
  • Long-term maintenance
  • Survival monitoring and reporting

2. Plantation Models

NetZero Planet Foundation implements plantation projects through various models, including:

Native Tree Plantation

The Foundation relies substantially on information submitted by users and does not independently verify all submitted data unless specifically stated. The Foundation relies substantially on information submitted by users and does not independently verify all submitted data unless specifically stated.

Native Tree Plantation

Plantation of indigenous and climate-resilient tree species suited to local ecological conditions.

Miyawaki Dense Forests

Creation of dense, multi-layer urban forests using native species for faster growth, biodiversity enhancement, and climate resilience.

Medicinal Forests (Arogya Van)

Plantation of medicinal and culturally significant species to promote health, biodiversity, and environmental awareness.

Memorial Forests (Smriti Van)

Creation of living memorials that combine remembrance with ecological restoration.

Biodiversity Forests (Prakruti Van)

Large-scale ecosystem restoration projects focused on biodiversity conservation and environmental protection.

Seed-Based Plantation

Plantation of Palmyra Palm, Neem, Karanja, and other suitable species through direct seed sowing methods for cost-effective ecological restoration.

3. Species Selection

Species are selected based on:

  • Native ecological suitability
  • Climate resilience
  • Biodiversity value
  • Soil and water conditions
  • Community requirements
  • Environmental impact potential

The Foundation reserves the right to modify species selection based on site-specific conditions and expert recommendations.

4. Plantation Location

Plantation may be carried out on:

  • Government land
  • Community land
  • Educational institutions
  • Religious and spiritual campuses
  • Urban green spaces
  • Rural landscapes
  • Coastal and environmentally sensitive areas
  • Private lands under approved agreements

Plantation locations may vary depending upon project requirements, permissions, land availability, and environmental suitability.

5. Tree Survival Commitment

NetZero Planet Foundation strives to maximize tree survival through:

  • Scientific plantation planning
  • Site preparation
  • Watering arrangements
  • Mulching and soil improvement
  • Protection from grazing and damage
  • Community participation
  • Regular monitoring

Where specified in project descriptions, maintenance support may be provided for up to three (3) years following plantation.

6. Survival Rates

While every effort is made to ensure high survival rates, contributors acknowledge that tree survival may be affected by factors beyond the Foundation's control, including:

  • Drought
  • Floods
  • Cyclones
  • Fire
  • Pest attacks
  • Grazing by animals
  • Human interference
  • Soil and climatic conditions
  • Natural disasters

Therefore, specific survival percentages cannot be guaranteed.

7. Replacement Policy

In selected projects, the Foundation may undertake gap-filling or replacement plantation where feasible and practical.
However:

  • Replacement is not guaranteed for every project.
  • Decisions regarding replacement plantation shall be made based on site conditions, available resources, and project requirements.
  • Contributors are supporting environmental impact rather than ownership of specific individual trees.

8. Monitoring and Reporting

The Foundation may undertake periodic monitoring of plantation sites through:

  • Physical field visits
  • Photographic documentation
  • Geotagging
  • Community feedback
  • Impact assessments

Project updates, photographs, and reports may be shared with contributors where available.

9. Carbon Sequestration Estimates

Carbon absorption figures provided for plantation projects are indicative estimates based on scientific assumptions, species characteristics, plantation density, and projected tree growth.
Actual carbon sequestration may vary depending upon:

  • Species survival
  • Growth rate
  • Climatic conditions
  • Site-specific factors

Such estimates should not be interpreted as certified carbon credits unless explicitly stated.

10. Tree Sponsorship and Ownership

Tree sponsorships, donations, and plantation contributions represent support for environmental projects.
Contributors:

  • Do not acquire legal ownership of planted trees or land.
  • Do not obtain rights over plantation sites.
  • Receive recognition of their contribution through certificates, acknowledgements, and project participation.

The Foundation retains management responsibility for project implementation and maintenance.

11. Community Participation

We strongly encourage participation from:

  • Local communities
  • Students
  • Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
  • Educational institutions
  • Corporate volunteers
  • Government bodies
  • Environmental groups

Community involvement significantly improves long-term survival and environmental impact.

12. Force Majeure

NetZero Planet Foundation shall not be held responsible for tree loss, project delays, or reduced survival rates caused by events beyond reasonable control, including:

  • Cyclones
  • Floods
  • Droughts
  • Fire
  • Extreme weather events
  • Government restrictions
  • Civil disturbances
  • Other natural or unforeseen events

12. Force Majeure

The Foundation reserves the right to modify this Tree Plantation & Survival Policy at any time to reflect changes in environmental practices, operational requirements, legal obligations, or project methodologies.
Updated versions will be published on the website.
