Krida Van is one of NetZero Planet Foundation's completed community greening initiatives, developed within and around the Harianta Mini Stadium at Choudwar, Cuttack. Through the plantation of 314 native trees across approximately 5 acres, the project transformed the stadium boundary and adjoining barren land into a vibrant green landscape that supports both environmental sustainability and community well-being.
environmental sustainability and community well-being.
The initiative was designed to enhance the environmental quality of the sports complex, create natural green buffers, improve biodiversity, and provide a healthier environment for athletes, visitors, and local communities.
The project includes a diverse mix of native and climate-resilient species such as Neem, Arjun, Baheda, Bakul, Jamun, Dalchini, Pomegranate, and other native trees selected for their ecological, environmental, and long-term sustainability benefits.
Krida Van is generating lasting environmental value by improving air quality, reducing local temperatures, enhancing biodiversity, preventing soil degradation, and strengthening green cover around the sports complex. The plantation provides shade, improves the aesthetic appeal of the stadium, and creates a healthier environment for sports, recreation, and community activities.
The plantation was implemented using scientific methods, including land preparation, compost application, mulching for moisture retention, installation of tree guards, and regular watering and maintenance. The focus remains on ensuring high survival rates and long-term ecological sustainability.
The project received active support from local communities, volunteers, and stakeholders, encouraging environmental awareness, collective responsibility, and community ownership of public green spaces.
The plantation phase has been successfully completed. Regular maintenance, monitoring, watering, and survival management activities are currently underway to ensure the healthy growth and long-term sustainability of the plantation.
Krida Van demonstrates how sports infrastructure and environmental stewardship can work together to create healthier, greener, and more sustainable community spaces for future generations.
